New Moms Network

A Good Idea

Description

The goal of the New Moms Network is to provide a helpful and supportive environment for new parents. This program targets new parents living in Brattleboro, Vermont and is offered at no-cost.

Moms (and/or dads) meet every week for an hour and a half to discuss various topics, receive education from community experts, and support each other. Topics covered include breastfeeding, sleeping patterns, immunizations, feelings associated with motherhood, lead exposure, and many more.

Goal / Mission

The goal of the New Moms Network is to provide a helpful and supportive environment for new parents.

Results / Accomplishments

Approximately 12 to 15 mothers attend the New Moms Network each week. Program coordinators report that breastfeeding rates have increased. Another benefit is that other local maternal/fetal programs receive extra exposure because of this support group.
